For nearly twenty-five years Grand Stage Illusionist and Master Magician John Steven Bloom has been wowing audiences and garnering critical acclaim for his special blend of magic, humor and family entertainment. Most enjoyable, perhaps, are the many opportunities for his full-length. fully-staged productions in local and regional performance venues which include his entire family.

Possessing a strong sense of culture and charity the John Steven Bloom Team has begun an extensive Youth Enrichment Magic Master Class Series and Residency Program and as well, renovated and reopened a historic theater. His far-reaching educational offerings take him to schools, parks and private events. He and his wife, Chance, operate the bulk of what it the Magic and Illusions of John Steven Bloom conglomerate which includes American Wax Entertainment Group, Animaland Ohio and various fund-raising prospects for non-profit organizations.

While John is proud of many achievements within his craft he is most pleased with having been the first magic act accepted into both the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council's Fee Support/Ohio Artists on Tour roster. In addition, he is an Ohio Performer's Showcase feature act and is regularly requested by Fortune 500 companies as a motivational speaker. This is the magic of John Steven Bloom and Chance.

Chance Bloom

Illusionist & Magical Assistant

Chance Bloom is a graduate of Brookfield High School. After graduating, she worked for an oil company and held a variety of part-time jobs in order to afford her apartment. During the month of October, she typically volunteered her time as a character actress for\
a local haunted house.

The ‘Daughter of Darkness’, an original character she developed & brought to life, was the roll she would play while working the dark attraction. In a bizarre twist of fate, John (who consulted, designed & built the haunted house) opened the lid of a casket & discovered Chance in character! John didn’t see Chance out of make-up until the haunted attraction closed for the season!

A close friend of John’s urged him to audition Chance for the show, but there wasn’t a position available. Then a client called John with an odd request. They were looking for a vampire type character to greet guests at a horror themed party held in December. John immediately booked Chance to recreate her roll as the ‘Daughter of Darkness’. By the end of December, Chance began her professional show business career when she formally joined ‘Magic & Illusions of John Steven Bloom’ the last week of 1996.

As the assistant roster began to thin out, Chance & John began a heavy booking tour schedule. When John decided to step the show up to a more professional operation, Chance attended the Professional Performers Workshop & the Mexican Mentoring Workshop with him. Together they began to develop an hour-long illusion show.

During an evening out, John & Chance visited Ohio’s oldest resort town on the shores of Lake Erie…Geneva-On-The-Lake. After closing a local winery, the couple drove several blocks & John spotted a ‘Theatre For Rent’ sign. John asked her to stop the car. Together, they stood in the middle of the street during a snowstorm & dreamt of opening the 600-seat venue for the summer season to debut their show. Six-months later, the theatre reopened for the first time in 17 years with their illusion show. The media covered the show a number of times throughout the season with rave reviews. One television news story not only aired locally but also on the Ohio News Network which was broadcasted statewide!

The final show of the season held a finale like no other. The audience filled the theatre to see John & Chance’s last performance. The show crew secretly informed the audience that there was an extra special surprise at the end of the program. As promised, at the end of the now 90-minute show, John invited Chance to help him introduce a new segment, despite it being the final performance at PJ’s Arcade Theatre.

As the music began to roll, John created a paper rose, floated it, caught it & himself on fire. From the blaze, John produced a real rose for his assistant while his eyebrows vanished! Then he pulled a string from his coat, lit it on fire & it turned into a ribbon with a ring. On bended knee, he silently proposed to Chance. Needless to say, she accepted & the couple got married during an open slot in their tour schedule a few years later.

Since joining the illusion show, Chance has toured the United States & Mexico delighting audiences of all ages. She is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians & has appeared on stage with an all-star cast for Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding concert in Phoenix, AZ & headlined in Las Vegas at the Texas Station Casino.

Chance is an avid baker & enjoys anything to do with cooking including the Food Network! In the summer of 2000 she & her mother opened & operated their own restaurant in Geneva-on-the-Lake when she wasn’t on stage with the weekend shows. Although the dinners were wonderful, they became known for their desserts! Currently she is becoming a self-taught gluten free expert in her own test kitchen. The results are wonderful.

Chance is also a keen fisherman. Although she’ll bait the hook, it’s John who removes the catch & releases it back to the water! She holds the record for catching the most fish (over 24 in a matter of a few hours) at a particular private lake. Camping, ghost hunting, traveling & exploring Key West are some of her other favorite escapes. To date, Chance has appeared, vanished, morphed, levitated & been impaled from the Pacific to the Atlantic & from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico not to mention Banderas Bay. During November & December, she portrays the part of Mrs. Claus for their holiday magic spectacular ‘Santa’s Arrival’ that tours malls across the country.

Chance is the proud mother of four beautiful girls. When she’s not on stage, she’s wrangling the three little ones, while she home schools her oldest daughter. She also manages the American Wax Entertainment Group office while keeping John’s schedule & the show schedules straight. Chance is also the secretary of Ring 161 in Akron, OH. As you can see, Chance’s magic far exceeds just the stage show!

Victoria Bloom
Illusionist & Magical Assistant
2001 Model

Victoria Bloom made her grand appearance into the world in April 2001. Since then she has traveled with her magical parents every step of the way. By her first birthday she had already visited with Mickey & Minnie Mouse at their Florida home, ventured through the Carolinas, explored New Orleans during Mardi Gras, crossed into Canada, played while her parents & Uncle Brian developed illusions in New York & enjoyed the bright lights of Las Vegas during a headlining run of the magic show.

Victoria’s first solo magic show was in December 2003 where she produced a bunny from an empty box. Of course she made the local paper in Sharon, PA while performing for a retirement center. Later that same month she appeared on stage with some 'famous friends' for the finale of Alice Cooper's Christmas Pudding in Phoenix. She walked on stage with Santa while over a dozen guitars & rock 'n' rollers played 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' lead by a band leader named Alice!

Originally Victoria typically would make her way to the stage during ‘Snow’ just in time to upstage her parents! Now she not only works as an assistant, she performs several illusion segments in the show and does a five minute solo silent act in one. Victoria had a TV cameo appearance during a story covering the ‘Santa Arrival’ show. Outside of the limelight Victoria's duties are taking care of the animals. Victoria enjoys dancing, singing, traveling & of course her little sisters!

Isabella 'Izzy' Bloom
Magical Understudy & Road Crew
2005 Model

Isabella Bloom made her grand entry into the world on June 2005 at 12:18pm. She saw her parents first perform at a mall in southern West Virginia. Like her big sister, she quickly got used to the audiences, shows & touring. Unlike her big sister, Izzy is a true roadie. If there's a road case moving, she's got her hands on it. When she was smaller, you would occassionally see a self propelled road case heading to or from the truck. It wasn't until it got past you that you could see it was really Izzy powered.

Izzy loves to do the shows, but what she really can't wait for is loading in or loading out the show. When the crew is really in a hurry, the kid wranglers have their hands full trying to keep Izzy from pushing a case! Then just like a true roadie, when the trailer door closes, she's looking for the bus, a fluffy pillow & the next performance.

Although she brings props to her daddy during the show, Izzy magically appears with her mom & big sister during the Jambox segment during the opening of the second half of their theatrical show. She occassionally walked through a ribbon during the show and does a cameo acting part during the Lost Treasuer Of Tortuga. At one theatrical performance, the curtains had just closed after the finale and Izzy turned to the crew and said 'OK people, pack it up, the show's over" before heading to her dressing room.

Currently Izzy is working on her knots and self working magic effects. She loves to perform small magical miracles, especially at the monthly magic meetings of the IBM Ring 161 in Akron.

Elizabeth 'Bitzy' Bloom
Magical Understudy
2007 Model

Elizabeth Bloom arrived on the busiest weekend in October 2007 at 6:53pm. Daddy made the delivery, worked a gig the next morning, visited later in the afternoon & then headed out to do another show that evening before crashing on the hospital couch with the latest bundle in his arms. Mom was having a time of her own while Victoria & Izzy had an extended stay with their grand parents.

Due to Bitzy's arrival & the Florida tour looming in JAN 2008, her mom demanded a tour bus. Daddy was cool with the idea & the Bloom's got their first tour bus the week they were leaving for the sunny south! If daddy knew it was that easy to justify a tour bus, he'd of negotiated that deal back in 2001 with the first baby!

Bitzy has appeared on stage even before she was walking. At a show in New Castle, PA in MAY 2009, she walked through a newspaper. Typically she appears during the Snow segment (provided she's still awake at that point). Most of the time, the kid wranglers are working to keep her off the stage since she's a ham like her father. Most recently she has been riding out on top of the Jambox illusion, waving to the audience.

At this point her interests include Disney World and Stonkerbride (Dracula). The verdict is still out as to what part she will want to play in this magical endeavour.  One thing is for sure...she's a carbon copy of her daddy.

Sophia Bloom
Magic Baby
2010 Model

On November 03rd, 2010, Chance and John welcomed their last addition to their family.  Sophia weighed in at 6lbs 8ozs. She arrived just before 8am. Her sisters had eagerly made their way to the hospital for a visit shortly after her birth. By the weekend, she was introduced to her new home. .

Two weeks later, Chance was back at it, appearing in grand stage illusions with John, while Sophia snoozed in her carrier. Sophia is typically pretty quiet. She likes car rides, snuggling and of course her steady diet of milk. Sophia is currently discovering her fingers and the fine art of cooing.

As for her sisters, they spend a lot of time arguing about who gets to hold her; who gets to change her diaper and the sort. She is well loved and there is never a dull moment! Secretly Sophia looks forward to visiting with Mickey Mouse.
