Magic of Education Grade Levels: 6-12 and College Running Time: 45-75 minutes Please refer below for Requirements/Notes This program is devoted to the importance of education & the subjects which are taught. Using magic as a vehicle, students will begin to understand how and why the subjects, the instructors and the school play a vital role in everyday life. This is an especially wonderful program for the 'why do I have to learn this stuff-I'll never use it anyway!' crowd. This is also a soft approach to decision making, dealing with consequences & pondering differently. Magicians deal with impossibilities everyday, so by applying these principals we can demonstrate how to take a life problem, idea or an illusion and make it reality, just by looking at things from a different angle. Resident Educational Activity Offered: Performance Art of Magic Grade Levels: All grade levels and College Residency lengths of stay vary depending on your needs. John Steven Bloom's background in theater, years of experience as an I.A.T.S.E. union stagehand, expertise in the magic performance art, coupled with owning & operating his own entertainment agency, makes for a very unique perspective in choosing entertainment as a life long career decision. Requirements/Notes: Magic & Illusions of John Steven Bloom is a self-contained multidisciplinary act with 2-8 members and a variety of educational and themed programs. Sound and ground support pipe & drape are included for larger shows. To ensure a quality performance, special attention has been given to both visibility of the illusions and the ability to hear and experience the activity as it was intended. Therefore please take the size of your audience into consideration. Additional same show/same day/same location performances are discounted 50%. Limit two performances per day. This act originates in Youngstown, OH. Artist's Narrative: Since 1994, Ohio native John Steven Bloom has been an active member of the Greater Columbus Arts Council's Artists-in-Schools program in Columbus, Ohio. Bloom's milestones include headlining in Las Vegas, appearing & performing onstage with stars such as Alice Cooper, REO Speedwagon, Bad English, Journey, 'Weird Al' Yankovic, Billy Bob Thornton, Pam Tillis, Nils Lofgren along with numerous television appearances and touring internationally with his illusion show. Bloom & his illusion team renovated & reopened a historic theater on the shores of Lake Erie, while his family oriented illusion show attracted media attention. The press described the show as “high caliber...a bewitching blend of dance & design;" “reminiscent of a Vegas production;" “A unique combination of music, sleight of hand, audience participation & dramatic style...woven into a tapestry of magic, mystery & fascination.” Bloom is a motivational speaker & corporate consultant whose duties include using magic to promote products.
